Legal Director Supply Chain – EMEA

The Johnson & Johnson Law Department seeks a Legal Director to join the Supply Chain, Real Estate, Procurement, Technology legal team (“SCRPT”), and provide legal support to various groups in Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Supply Chain organization.

The Legal Director – Janssen Supply Chain EMEA will support drafting, negotiation and execution of material transactions across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, in a number of areas, and will partner with the Janssen Supply Chain function, and other business stakeholders, to ensure that J&J policies and processes are applied to protect J&J’s business interests, in line with Our Credo values.

Job Description: Legal Director Janssen Supply Chain EMEA

The Legal Director Janssen Supply Chain EMEA will provide legal support to the Janssen Supply Chain business across the EMEA region, dealing with a complex and broad variety of issues. This position will be located in Belgium, Ireland or Switzerland.  Relocation expenses will not be paid/reimbursed.

The Legal Director Janssen Supply Chain EMEA will be a member of the Johnson & Johnson Law Department and part of the broader EMEA legal team. The Legal Director Janssen Supply Chain EMEA will be part of the Partnership External Supply (“PES”) leadership team.

The Legal Director Janssen Supply Chain EMEA will be a self-starter and able successfully to work in “virtual” teams and cross-functional working groups. She/he is expected to build effective relationships with the functional business clients and shall partner with the other Johnson & Johnson attorneys present in the region and globally.   

Her/his scope of work will include:

  • Provide strategic and operational legal support to the PES Leadership Team.
  • Further scoping out Janssen Supply Chain needs for the region.
  • Developing legal support processes to address cross-regional issues and recurring questions.
  • Being the key legal contact for various functional groups on Janssen Supply Chain matters across the region, such as, but not limited to, PES and JSC Procurement (mainly focusing on JSC External Manufacturing and Drug Delivery System groups).
  • Support the Janssen Supply Chain with negotiations on critical and complex agreements for the sourcing and procuring of supply of raw materials, capital equipment, manufacturing services, as well as supply of products with external manufacturers, including drafting and review of relevant agreements, collaborating closely with other colleagues (such as PES, Procurement, Engineering, Quality and Regulatory Affairs). 
  • Advise and support Janssen Supply Chain, and relevant business stakeholders, in the assessment and management of potential disputes, or, working with Quality and Regulatory Law colleagues, potential Quality issues.
  • Building/improving governance models to drive efficiency and compliance in contracting processes.
  • Enhancing the capabilities of sourcing colleagues and other functions on contract negotiation and risk management through legal training. 
  • Proactively partner and work with other Johnson & Johnson Law Department colleagues in the region and globally to drive local alignment with regional and global initiatives, best practice and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead and supervise external legal counsel and external counsel budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Law Degree, obtained with excellent results. Supplementary degree or LLM is considered an asset.

Languages:                

Excellent written and oral English; other languages are considered an asset.

Experience:

  • Qualified lawyer.
  • At least 10 years of years of post-qualification legal experience, acquired in an international law firm and/or legal department of an international corporation in the healthcare industry, of which at least 5 years should be relevant legal experience in the life sciences industry, as well as supply chain.
  • Broad-based procurement, commercial and/or corporate experience, ideally including experience of supporting supply chain and/or procurement contracts, technology and/or business sales and acquisitions.
  • Experience of drafting, negotiating and reviewing complex agreements.
  • Strong interest in the healthcare sector.
